Bold & Bizarre Games Bulletin (JULY)

It's time for your Bold & Bizarre Bulletin; a monthly round up of weird, wayward and otherwise notable games for July. This is the archived version of our monthly newsletter, and as such - our monthly Pantaloon Puzzle contained within it is disabled (but can be found in the Puzzle Archive, available to our Primo subscribers).

Let us commence!

#1 CTRL Phreak

You know those mid-noughties action/heist films, and one of the crew was always that hacker stereotype whose fingers would fly across a keyboard as 1s and 0s cascaded down the screen? Well CTRL Phreak dials into exactly that (deliciously unrealistic) player fantasy as you "download RAM, fight elite hacker bosses, and "code" by literally mashing your keyboard."

#2 GLITCH DADDY

If you've subscribed to Pantaloon for some time, you'll have noticed a common thread in our recommendations and taste-making; fever dreams and games that look like they've been designed during a peyote-fuelled dev-sesh in the middle of the desert. Glitch Daddy is a first-person adventure focusing on atmospheric exploration, and the rest is kind of hard to distil into words. Give the trailer a whirl

(and don't do drugs x)

#3 TINY TERRY’S TURBO TRIP

Haha, look at this little guy. Look at his stupid little face. I love him. Tiny, self-contained open worlds (a la Short Hike) make for perfectly digestible experiences for those who might lack the hundred-spare hours required for you usual open-world affair, and TTTT combines something peculiar and characterful ("Terry wants to launch himself into space using his new car") with a dense and well-authored world to spend time in.

#4 VAPORWAVE PINBALL

[COMING SOON]

Less in-your-face bizarre, and more odd in an understated liminal sense. Vaporwave Pinball asks the question: "what if the pinball table was in a space between realities that somehow promotes nostalgia of a time that may never has existed in the first place (Anemoia that's called btw, word fans). If you're into score-chasing but also finding a flow-state and simply enjoying the moment, this is for you.

#5 DEATH OF THE REPROBATE

[COMING SOON]

Joe Richardson's particular flavour of interactive art is very much our cup of tea. A spiritual successor to both Four Last Things and The Procession to Calvary, Death of the Reprobate is a point-and-click adventure formed from actual renaissance art, then brought to life with sharply written (if somewhat unhinged) prose. Go tell Joe you're excited, and that we sent you, and see if you can't get a release date out of him...

Reminder! Pantaloon's partnered game for June is Supermarket Times

Keys will be going out July 25th. If you haven't let us know you're interested in the game just yet, please do so using the button below - this will aid our refined giveaway model and filter out unengaged members of our mailing list.

Ok! That’s July’s Bulletin in the bag. See you next month.
