Bold & Bizarre Games Bulletin (APRIL)

In the old world, the Bold & Bizarre Bulletin was simply a collection of six games Pantaloon found interesting.

Now, it's a hand-crafted quintet of oddities and curiosities from the world of indie games. You'll get one of these per month, moving forward. Rejoice.

Oh! And the Bulletin will be the vehicle for your monthly Pantaloon Puzzle moving forward - yes, including this one. Good luck!

#1

Felvidek

GOODNESS GRACIOUS Felvidek's art direction is SOMETHING. What a grubby but glorious aesthetic it's managed to define.

Felvidek is a geographically unconventional JRPG set in 15th century Slovakia, where you step into the shoes of one alcoholic knight: Pavol. Honestly, it's mad as a box of frogs, but in all the right ways - go play (yes there's a free demo).

#2

Please Leave Me Alone I Need to Poop

Number two (ahaha) in this month's Bulletin is this peculiar Visual Novel meets Warioware mini-game mash-up; a comedy* tasking you with balancing your bowel movements with the demands of your boss.

*so long as toilet humour does it for you, I guess.

#3

Penrose

Alright so Penrose isn't new - it launched on Steam back in September - but it's only just landed on the Pantaloon radar and seems to have been criminally overlooked, so we couldn't not include it here.

As a fan of interactive fiction - and how beautiful the constraints of IF and text-based games can be - Penrose pushes all the boundaries and nudges the genre into really exciting territory.

#4

Ballionaire

Here is a bold prediction: Ballionaire is going to be big. This pachinko board-building roguelike is odd and low-fi and sticks in your head and honestly it's basically crack.

Keep your eyes on this one, and remember it was Pantaloon who told you so...

#5

Devil's Hideout

Mystics. Cultists. Abandoned hospitals. If horror and point and click adventures are your bag, Devil's Hideout has recently landed on Kickstarter and is well worth checking out. Oh, and there's a free demo.

We've been following the work of Cosmic Void for a little while, and - as with Twilight Oracle - Devil's Hideout looks like it's going all out on that unnerving, almost-Lynchian atmosphere.

Ok then, that's it for April. More bold and bizarre findings next month.
